Candidate Bio

Hello, my name is Mara Vettori! I am running for Student Senate because I believe every student here deserves to have their voices heard. As a sophomore double majoring in Environmental and Sustainability Studies and Legal Studies, I have had the opportunity to learn about policy and the importance of advocacy. I'm passionate about continuing to make Grand Valley feel safe and welcoming for all students. Throughout my time here at Grand Valley, I have been able to help teach communities about sustainability and how to implement more sustainable practices into their lives, as well as my own. The courses I have taken are heavily involved in interdisciplinary studies and have taught me about the importance of advocacy, community, and collaboration. If elected, I plan to focus on issues that directly impact studentslike improving campus sustainability practices, ensuring course materials are affordable for everyone, and making sure everyone feels they have the space and resources to express themselves fully. I'm committed to being a reliable and approachable representative who listens to students' concerns and works hard to find practical solutions to a wide range of issues. It would be an honor to have your vote, thank you!
